Fernando holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in International Finance & Marketing, from the University of Miami School of Business. He holds language certifications from University of Florence (Italy) and the University of Heidelberg (Germany).
He has 20 years of international business experience working in North America, Latin America, and Europe, Fernando is an international specialist in outsourcing, management consulting, risk management, forensic accounting, internal/external audit, regulatory compliance, and financial investigations.
Fernando’s experience is derived from working on complex international outsourcing, consulting, audit and forensic accounting engagements in many industries predominantly as an external advisor with PricewaterhouseCoopers, but also as an internal auditor in private industry.
He has directed numerous off-shoring engagements as well as risk assessments, internal investigations, complex insurance claim reviews, and litigation consulting engagements for a variety of private and public entities in the US and abroad.
Having managed complex multi country engagements for companies including, ING Bank, DirecTV, General Motors, and British Petroleum; Fernando offers proven leadership in delivering value added risk balanced outsourcing and off-shoring solutions.
Furthermore, Fernando has helped create and implement fraud-related internal controls, policies and procedures for organizations in the U.S., Latin America and Europe for their outsourced operations and has frequently advised clients on how to comply with the BSA/USA PATRIOT Act, Sarbanes-Oxley Act and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
Additionally, Fernando held finance and management positions with American Express and Kedrion Biopharmaceuticals respectively.
Currently, he is publishing and advising on managing the conversion to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Outsourcing Risk Management.
He is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and the Institute of Internal Auditors and President of the South Florida Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
Fernando has published various articles in professional/trade journals including the Internal Auditor magazine and has addressed various professional groups including the Institute of Internal Auditors and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
Fernando is fluent in English, Spanish, and Italian and conversational in German and Dutch. |
